Works and Days takes its name from an Ancient Greek poem itself called Works and Days. The poem was written by Hesiod (circa 750-650 BCE), a poet-farmer who spent a portion of his life farming the trying terrain of central Greece. Works and Days consists of Hesiod’s advice to his brother Persês on agriculture, justice, and the importance of working diligently during periods of uncertainty.
